Rio Itajaí-Açu

The Rio Itajaí-Açu is a Brazilian river of the State of Santa Catarina. It throws in the Atlantic Ocean. Its Valley, called " European valley " , is known for its Italian and especially Germanic influence.

The main cities crossed by this river are Blumenau and Itajaí, seat of the main port of the State.

The Itajaí-Açu river is formed of the rivers Itajaí C Oeste and Itajaí C Sul. These two rivers meet on the municipality of Rio C Sul. Its principal affluents are the Rio Itajaí C Norte (or Rio Hercílio), the Rio Benedito and the Rio Itajaí-Mirim.

It is very famous for the practice of the Rafting.
