Ring virginity

The rings Virginité comes from the movement protesting Silver Ring Thing , created in the Arizona in the middle of the years 1990, which intended to fight against the increase in the STI and the early pregnancies among the teenagers.

The port of this ring means for that which carries it that there wishes to remain virgin until the marriage.

Legal decision in the United Kingdom

In June 2007, young a 16 year old British, Lydia Playfoot, excluded from its college after she had refused to withdraw this ring, seized justice in the name of the new article (freedom of thought) and fourteen (discrimination) of the European Cour of the human rights.

With the audience, its lawyers pled that the college made it possible well to the Moslem women to wear the veil and the Sikhs their turban, and that a prohibition against the ring would violate the Human rights of their customer.

The college had rejected these arguments, estimating that the ring was not a religious sign and thus that its port represented an infringement with the uniform.

July 26th, 2007 the high court ruled that the human rights of the young girl had not been violated.
