Ring network

A ring network is a form of Data-processing network aiming at connecting together Ordinateur S.

All the entities are connected between them in a closed Boucle. The data circulate in a single direction, of one entity to the following one. An entity accepts a data in circulation on the ring only if it corresponds well at its address. In the contrary case, the entity in question makes pass the data to the following entity.

An example of implementation of the ring network is the Token ring (or Token-ring protocol).

Advantages:

  • Minimization of the necessary quantity of cable
  • Simplicity of the protocol, by avoiding the management of the Collision S

Disadvantages:

  • the withdrawal or the breakdown of an active entity, paralyzes the traffic of the network.
