Ring C
The ring C is a planetary Anneau located around Saturn.
Characteristics
The ring C begins to 74.658 km from the center from Saturn and extends up to 92.000 km, ranging between the Anneau D, internal, and the Anneau B, more external and of which it is separated by division from Lyot. Its thickness is estimated at 5 m, its mass with 1,1×1018 kg.The ring C contains several small divisions, like the Division of Columbo or the Division of Maxwell. These divisions contain in their turn of the internal and eccentric rings, like the Annelet of Titan (77 871 km of ray) or the Annelet of Maxwell (87 491 km of ray). There exist also the rings of 1,470 Rs (located between 88.716 and 88.732 km, are 1,470 times the ray of Saturn) and of 1,495 Rs (between 90.171 and 90.232 km), located in two other divisions.
The ring C was discovered in 1850 by William and George Philips Bond and named “ring seersucker” ( crepe boxing ring ) because it seemed made up of materials darker than the rings has and B.
