Rimini

Rimini is a Italian city of the province of the same name in Emilie-Romagna.

It is located on the Adriatic coast at the North of the the Mediterranean.

The independent source of income of this city is the estival Tourisme. The tourists come from Italy of course, but also of all the Europe.

The town of Rimini is primarily balneal but it also very tourist thanks to the new Center of Exposure, one of is best equipped with Europe.

Rimini is located at the same time near Urbin, an Italian kind of Carcassonne (62 km), and République of San Marino (27 km).

Most famous of its citizens is Federico Fellini whose name was given to the airport. Rimini is also the title of a song of the Wampas, composed in the honor of the runner cyclist Marco Pantani which died in a town hall the February 14th 2004.

History

Rimini is a colony rested by the Romans in 268 av J.C under the name of Ariminum : its port, built out of marble, was famous. César seized in -49 it, after having passed the Rubicon.

Vitigès, king of the Ostrogoths, besieged it in 538, but it was delivered by Bélisaire. It fell thereafter to be able it from the Lombards: it belonged to the Pentapole, which was given to the Pape S by Pépin the Brief.

The Malatesti, to which the emperor Othon III had made gift of it, there dominated of 13th at the 16th century. It was allocated to the popes in 1528.

An earthquake filled its port in 1671.

During second half of the 20th century, it undergoes a fast Urbanisation of sound Littoral, so much so that one speaks sometimes about “ riminisation ” to indicate the concreting of the coasts of the Mediterranean under the pressure of the tourist development .
