Rimaye

A rimaye (known as rimaille or more often rimaie ) is a Crevasse in a Glacier located at the higher border between the ice moving and the motionless environment (in general rock, Glace attached to the rock, or snow lasts).

It due to is advanced Glacier which, because of Gravité, moves away from its motionless base.

It should be noted that one can also observe this phenomenon on snow-covered slopes at the end of the season.

In Alpinism, it is often a key passage of the way: if it is not covered with Neige, it can be very difficult to pass.

Anecdote: with its approach, the Alpiniste can then undergo the badly rimayes which pushes it to pretext more or less fallacious excuses to give up the race.
