Rigores

Castling Miranda Cop known as “Rigores” , born with Madrid (Spain) the August 16th 1799, died in Madrid the February 14th 1843, was a Spanish Matador.

Presentation

As of its more young age, “Rigores” is dedicated to the bullfighting, as disciple of Jerónimo Jose Candido and takes the alternate in Madrid the October 20th 1823 with like godfather “El Sombrerero” and as pilot Luis Parra, vis-a-vis bulls of the Ganadería of Gaviria Handbook.

For political reasons (he was member of the liberal party and was of 1820 to 1823 sergeant of the urban militia), it was prevented of toréer until, in 1828, the king Fernando VII raises prohibition.

“Rigores” was not a very large matador, although its agitated life brought a great notoriety to him. It is withdrawn in 1836 then reappears a few years later, without more talent nor of possibilities.

It is seriously wounded in Madrid the June 6th 1842 by the bull “Bravio” of the ganadería of the Duke of Veragua. It reappears again in the arena, but very weakened and with even less faculties than before. It undergoes several surgical operations, but it dies on February 14th, 1843 of the continuations of its wounds.
