Riedisheim
Riedisheim is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.
Its inhabitants is called Riedisheimois and Riedisheimoises.
Geography
Bordering in particular on the communes of Mulhouse and Rixheim, the commune of Riedisheim is located at 30 km of Basle (Swiss) and 20 km of Müllheim (Germany). It culminates at the northern end of the " Horst of Mulhouse" (Horst is a German word meaning " butoir"), limit of the southern part of the plain of Alsace. It dominates thus, of its nonploughed up headland of the Rhenish ditch, part of this one going from the Vosges to the German Black Forest.
History
1004: First mention of the village under the name of RUDINISHEIM. Thereafter, this name evolved/moved to lead in 1832 to RIEDISHEIM. The significance of this name is not very clear, for some it is an allusion to the " Ried" , for other an evocation of the Germanic patronym " Rüdolf" (Rüdi)
Administration
Mr. Charles Buttner being president of the general advice Haut-Rhin since 2004, it is Mrs. Monique Karr who fulfills the function of mayor of Riedisheim.
