Rick Ley
Rick Ley (born the November 2nd 1948 with Orillia in Ontario) is a former player of professional Hockey of the National league of hockey and the Worldwide association of hockey.
Ley was fished out by the Maple Leafs of Toronto in 3rd round of the RepĂȘchage amateur of the LNH 1966, 16th on the whole. It spent 4 seasons with Leafs before jumping in the AMH with the Whalers of New England in 1972. It remained with the organization of Whalers jusq' to the dissolution of the AMH in 1979. It followed Whalers in the LNH (becoming the Whalers de Hartford) and put a term at its career in 1981. He will have been captain of Whalers during 6 years and he is one of the 3 only Whalers to have had their withdrawn number, with Gordie Howe and John McKenzie.
He was a trainer-chief of Whalers during 2 seasons then spent 7 seasons in the organization of the Canucks of Vancouver as trainer and depistor before being named trainer-assistant by Maple Leafs the August 4th 1998. He was raised of his functions at Leafs at the end of the 2005-06 with Pat Quinn.
