Major forwardings with the north pole

Forwarding of the " the last degré"

In April 1993, Richard and Mikhail Malakhov opened first trade route making it possible customers to ski the last 100 kilometers separating them from the North pole (i.e to ski of the 89e parallel with the 90e). Of Longyearbyen (in the archipelago of the Svalbard), the customers are conveyed in Barneo, the Russian base installed on the ice-barrier, the starting point of forwarding.

Between 1993 and 2005, Richard and Mikhail guided eight of these forwardings of the last degree. Today, several companies offer this way and annually bring more than one hundred of people to the pole.

In 1999, Jack MacKenzie, a participant originating in Canada, became the oldest person to ski with the North pole at the 77 years, 10 months and 13 days age.
