Richard Sennett
Richard Sennett , born in 1943, is a sociologist and American historian which teaches with the London School off Economics and at the university of New York, also novelist and musician. Pushed towards sociology by Hannah Arendt, he recognizes the influence of Michel Foucault on his work.
It is interested initially in the working life in urban environment, tackles questions of architecture, then widens its field being studied of the corrosion of the character induced by the instability of the professional paths in flexible capitalism . It is based on the accounts of life, in particular of workers condemned to the mobility which will not leave them the possibility of tying durable bonds.
Through the study of the modern city, it is interested in the figure of exiled, of which the others cannot include/understand the origin and what modelled it.
