Richard Legendre (January 19th 1953 with Montmagny) is a Sportif and politician Québécois working on the provincial scene.

Biography

In 1971, he becomes champion junior of Tennis of Canada. After studies in Récréologie with the University of Quebec with Three-Rivers, he becomes consecutively director of two circuits of tennis, that is to say that of Alcan, then that of Molson. He continues his career in the field of tennis as coordinator of the Marketing to the TenniSport Club of Quebec. He is thereafter named director of International of tennis of Canada of Maurier in 1988 with Montreal (maintaining the Masters de Tennis of Canada). Its principal realization for this reason is the financing by major silent partners and the governments for the enlarging of the stage of the park Jarry where the omnium is held.

Political life

He is elected appointed district of Blainville for the first time for the Parti Québécois at the time of bys-election the October 2001, following the resignation of Céline Signori. In November 2001, he becomes Ministre responsible for Youth, Tourism, the Leisure and the Sport like minister responsible for the area of the Laurentides. To these functions those of minister responsible for Fauna and the Parks in January 2002 are added.

With the Québécois general election of 2003, he is re-elected Député of Blainville in spite of the defeat of the Québécois Party to the hands of the Liberal party of Quebec. He becomes spokesperson of the opposition areas municipal businesses.

Following the resignation of Bernard Landry in 2005 as chief of the Québécois Party, it launched out in the race to the direction of the party which it loses finally the 15 November 2005 with 7,48% is the 3rd position with 7.877 votes of which it is shown all the same satisfied. It is then André Boisclair which carries it with a majority of 53,68%.

It is beaten with the elections of 2007 while collecting: 14184 votes, behind the adequist Pierre Gingras with: 17731 votes.
