Richard Hell

Richard Hell (name of scene of Richard Meyers ) is an American singer born the October 2nd 1949 very influential in the movement Punk.

Biography

It grows with Lexington in the Kentucky in the Années 1950. It meets Tom Miller - the future Tom Verlaine - in a private school of Delaware. Both impassioned poetry, they fuguent together with old 16 years and are stopped in Alabama for vandalism. If Tom Verlaine turns over to the college, Richard Hell rejoins New York where it starts to write, parallel to testing himself all kinds of drugs. Tom Verlaine joined it at the end of the Années 1960 and they form unit The Neon Servant boys which will become Television, worship group of the New Yorkean scene .

Television seeks a place where to occur regularly and brighten Sundays of CBGB' S, a club of Bluegrass and deserted Country. They gain respect there and goes down for hearing (Lou Reed and Patti Smith is in their regular public) but not or little money. Richard Hell impetuous but not really musician gets along less and less with Tom verlaine more demanding and pretentious. He leaves the group in 1975, a few weeks after Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan left the New York Dolls.

He thus integrates Johnny Thunders and The Heartbreakers, as a bass player, while Johnny Thunders, ensures the song and the guitar, Jerry Nolan, the battery. Walter Lure becomes soon the second guitarist. Richard Hell leaves the group beginning 1975 because he does not get along with Thunders and assembles The Voidoids with Robert Quine, an experienced guitarist. Blank Generation will become their title headlight, symbol of a generation without goal nor dream, following the example Pretty Vacant of the Sex Pistols. Besides they leave to turn to England at the same time that Heartbreakers and are estomaqués by the outraged attitude of the British young people punks.
