Richard Evans Schultes

Richard Evans Schultes is a American Botaniste , born the January 12th 1915 with Boston and died in 2001. He is regarded as one of the fathers of the Ethnobotanique.

He is the son of Otto Schultes and Maude B. born Bagley. He obtains in Harvard his Bachelor off Arts in 1937, his Master off Arts in 1938 and his pH. D. in 1941. The university of Bogota decrees to him off in 1951 a honorary Master Arts. It Marie with Dorothy Crawford McNeil the March 27th 1959.

He works initially for the service of the industrial plants of the American ministry of the Agriculture of 1942 with 1954 then becomes preserving with the Museum of botany of Cambridge. Schultes is member various learned societies of which the American Academy off Arts and Sciences, the Société linnéenne of London, the Academy of sciences of Colombia, the economic Company of botany of America, etc

It in particular makes appear off Native Orchids Trinidad and Tobago (1960), with Arthur Stanley Pease (1881-1964) Generic Names off Orchids-Their Origin and Meaning (1963). It directs the publication of Economical Botany .
