Richard Bona

Richard Bona is an artist Cameroun board. Initially recognized on the international music scene like a Bass player considered, it also carries out since 1999 a career of Chanteur solo with 4 albums to its credit, it is Compositeur - interprets his songs. He has affirmed himself for a few years as artist with whole share on the international scene, evolving/moving out of the musical labels, with the image of other African artists like Geoffrey Oryema or Lokua Kanza.

Biography

Richard Bona was born in 1967 in Minta, with the Cameroun, in a family of musicians. His/her grandfather was Chanteur and Percussionniste, his mother, also singer. He thus starts to learn the very young music. At 4 years, it is initiated with the Balafon. As of 5 years, it occurs in the church of its village (Parish Holy-Cross of Minta). Of a poor medium, it manufactures its own instruments: flutes, guitar (with cords in bowel of bicycle).

Its talent is quickly noticed, and one more and more often calls upon him to animate festivals and ceremonies. It begins the guitar at 11 years, with facility. In 1980, it assembles its first orchestra for a club of Jazz of Douala held by French. The owner makes him discover the jazz and in particular Jaco Pastorius. Richard Bona then decides to play of the low .

He emigrates in Germany at 22 years, then arrives in France, to follow studies of music. He plays then regularly in clubs of jazz and occurs with dimensions Jacques Higelin, Didier Lockwood, Manu Dibango, Salif Keita, etc In 1995, it leaves France and is established with New York. There still, it foams the boxes of jazz, and works with artists like Larry Coryell, Michael and Randy Brecker, Pat Metheny, Mike Mainieri, Mike Stern, Steve Gadd, Russell Malone or Joe Zawinul…

Its first album solo, Scenes off my life , leaves in 1999.

Richard is also the father of two children, Christelle (20 years) and Léo (9 years).
