Riccio
Bartolomeo di Sebastiano Neroni known as Riccio (His, ~1500 - His, 1571-1573) is a painter, a miniaturist, a sculptor and an Italian architect of the Sienan school, which was also a military engineer, a scenographer and a specialist recognized in many pictorial techniques, miniature with the fresco, credit especially in Sienan area but also with Lucques and Genoa.
Biography
Better pupil of Sodoma, he becomes his son-in-law by marrying his Faustina daughter in 1543.As painter it is influenced then by Domenico Beccafumi and carries out a whole series of pictorial works in various churches.
As architect, it takes as a starting point Baldassarre Peruzzi. One of its works is the transformation into theater (the current communal theater dei Rinnuovati) of the room of the Council of the Republic of Palazzo Pubblico, in 1530 (scene destroyed by a fire then); it carries out many buildings in the city.
In 1555, the republican city loses its independence, and Neroni, which had carried out the walls of fortifications, prefers to leave its birthplace for Lucques where it remains until 1567.
Zacchia Lorenzo it Giovane (1524 - after 1587) will be one of the pupils of its workshop with Lucques.
Between 1567 and 1570, returned to His, it directed the execution of the Stalle S of the chorus of the dome of His, with the wood-carvers Teseo Bartalino da Pienza, Benedetto di Giovanni da Montepulciano, Baccio Descherini and Domenico de Chiari, “ a masterpiece of the triumphing Maniérisme which will remain a model for the decades to come ”.
Michelangelo Anselmi was of its pupils and those of Sodoma.
