Riccardo Muti is a Leader Italy N, born with Naples on July 28th 1941

Biography

He studies philosophy then the direction of orchestra. Married to Cristina Mazzavilani, old Professional singer today her business manager, he is father of three children (of which Francesco and Clara). After having carried the first price of the Contest Guido Cantelli in 1967, he becomes leader of musical May Florentin and its fame becomes international. It directs in 1971 to the Festival of Salzburg and succeeds Otto Klemperer with the head of the Philharmonia Orchestra. In 1980, it takes the direction of the Orchestre of Philadelphia, where it succeeds Wolfgang Sawallisch then the head of La Scala of Milan in 1986, of which it directs Europa Riconosciuta for his reopening in 2004.

Since 1993, it is regularly invited to direct the Concert of the New year of the Philharmonic orchestra of Vienna.

It is especially known for its direction of opera S Italian and is regarded as the musical heir to Toscanini. Particularly demanding on musical and vocal quality, he is the leader of musical orthodoxy.

He resigned of Scala on April 2nd, 2005.
