Riccardo Illy (born the September 24th 1955 with Trieste -) is a Politician and business man Italy contemporary N.

Biography

Married, a girl (Daria).

Employed near the family company since 1977, it reorganized the commercial structure of it. Of 1992 with 1995, “managing director”, then of 1995 to today, vice-president of Illycaffè spa , rested by his/her paternal grandfather (of Hungarian origin) in 1933 and from now on present in 70 countries.

Riccardo Illy is also journalist advertizing and also author of the book Dal Caffè all' Espresso published by Mondadori, translated into English, French and German.

Independent and supported by a coalition which anticipated Ulivo (Olivier) and by a list citizen which bore her name, he was elected twice mayor of Trieste, for the two mandates authorized by the Italian law (of `93 with `01).

In May 2001, elected with the House of Commons of the Italian Parliament, member of the mixed group (independent).

He supported the referendum on the regional electoral law. Once obtained the direct election of the president of the area, it arised and was elected, supported by a widened coalition: Intesa democratica (democratic Agreement), the 8 and June 9th 2003. He is the first president of the autonomous region Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Riccardo Illy is also the President of the Parliament of the Areas of Europe since 2004, re-elected with Palma de Majorque in November 2006 for two years.
