Biography
It is born in a family from musicians, with his Luciano father who teaches him the composition.At 20 years, Chailly becomes the assistant of Claudio Abbado with La Scala.
In 1982, he becomes principal chief of RSO Berlin, station which he occupies until in 1989.
Of 1983 with 1986 he is first invited chief of the Philharmonic orchestra of London.
Of 1986 with 1993 he is musical director of Teatro Musicale of Bologna.
Of 1999 with 2005 it directs the Symphony orchestra of Milan Giuseppe Verdi.
Since 2005 Chailly is Generalmusikdirektor with Leipzig, Kapellmeister of the Orchestre of Gewandhaus and musical director of the Opera.
As an invited chief, it directed concerts of the Philharmonic orchestra of Berlin, the Philharmonic orchestra of Vienna, the Symphony orchestra of London, the Philharmonic one of New York, the Symphony orchestra of Chicago, the Orchestra of Cleveland or the Orchestra of Philadelphia and representations with the royal Opera of Covent Garden, Metropolitan Opera, the Opera of State of Bavaria and the Festival of Salzburg.
Repertory
From 1988 to 2004, Chailly directs the Orchestre of Concertgebouw of Amsterdam and, in addition to integrals of the symphonies of Bruckner and Mahler, widens its symphonic repertory with type-setters like Edgar Varèse (integral of the orchestral music), Paul Hindemith ( Kammermusik ), Dmitri Chostakovitch (film musics) or Alexander von Zemlinsky ( lyric Symphonie ).
