Ricardo Viñes
Ricardo Viñes , born the February 5th 1875 with Lérida, Catalonia and dead the April 29th 1943 with Barcelona, was a Spanish pianist very famous.
He owes also his notoriety with his friendship with Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy and Manuel of Falla (this last dedicated to him its Nuit in the gardens of Spain ). He was also piano teacher of Francis Poulenc.
Beginnings
He studied the piano under the direction of Charles de Bériot with the Conservatoire of Paris. He was the pupil of Benjamin Godard and Albert Lavignac. Ravel and it, which studied in the same class, had a great reciprocal influence. He belonged a time to the group of the Apaches.
Collaboration with Ravel
Viñes created some of the largest masterpieces pianistic of Ravel: ancient Minuet (April 1898), Pavane for a late infante (April 1902), Dancing waters (April 1902), Mirrors (January 1906) and Gaspard of the night (January 1909). The type-setter dedicated to him the ancient Menuet and the second part of the Miroirs , entitled sad Oiseaux .
Posterity
Viñes is recognized for its interpretations of the French music and Spanish but also of Russian works . In addition to the type-setters previously quoted, its contemporaries Erik Satie, Déodat de Séverac and Isaac Albéniz appeared in its repertory.As type-setter, his most known work remains the Two homages , in Séverac and Satie.
It published several writings on the Spanish music.
