Rhus is a kind of Arbre S or Arbuste S commonly called sumacs in France or simmecks by the Lebanon board. It is composed of approximately 125 species present in the areas hot and moderated except for the “vinegar manufacturer” originating in North America.

The generic name Rhus , of use at the Greek S and the Romain S, would be of origin Celtique and would mean " rouge".

Description

The species of the kind Rhus have Feuille S alternate, made up-imparipennées.

Fleur S polygamous, Monoïque S or Dioïque S, small, generally in final Panicle S.

Sepal S 3-5, distinct. Petal S 3-5. Cheesecloth S 3-5. Pistil formed of only one Carpelle sessile, containing only one Ovule.

Fruit: small Drupe uniséminé.

Classification

  • Certain poisonous species of the kind such as the poisonous Sumac (in the past Rhus radicans ), whose Suc is a very active Poison, or the Arbre with lacquer, also called Sumac with varnished the (in the past Rhus will vernicifera ) of which juice, also poisonous, is useful, at the Japan board, to varnish the wood ustensils in Laque, belonged to the kind Rhus but they were reclassified in the kind Toxicodendron in the years 1970.
