Rheinsberg

Rheinsberg is a German city of the district of Prignitz-with-the Be-Toff, in Brandebourg, located on the the Rhine, to 20 km in the North-East of Neuruppin and 75 km in the North-West of Berlin.

It is in Rheinsberg that Frederic II of Prussia, then still crown prince, settled in 1736, where it was surrounded by a court which it chooses among philosophers and men of letters. It remained there until its accession with the throne in 1740.

June 6th, 2006, a Franco-German informal summit was taken place to with it, between the president Jacques Chirac and the chancelière Angela Merkel.
