Rheina-Wolbeck

The principality of Rheina-Wolbeck (in German Fürstentum Rheina-Wolbeck ) is old a Seigneurie Saint Germanic Roman Empire, located today in the Land of Rhineland-of-North-Westphalia. Its capital was Rheine.

Belonging to the évêché of Münster, it was given in 1803 to the duke Guillaume-Joseph de Looz-Corswarem in compensation of the loss of its States located on Right Bank of the the Rhine.

Médiatisée in 1806, it was attached by to the Grand-duché of Berg, then annexed by France in 1811 (in the department of the Lippe), before being given to the Prussia by the Congrès of Vienna in 1815.

The principality passed by marriage in the Maison of Lannoy, and the king Frederic-Guillaume IV of Prussia conferred the title of prince de Rheina-Wolbeck ( Fürst zu Rheina-Wolbeck ) to the count Napoleon de Lannoy de Clervaux.
