Rhaeto-Romanic
Among the Romance Languages, the group of the Rhaeto-Romanic speeches includes/understands several Langue S spoken in Suisse and in north about the Italy, inside the alpine arc or in its proximity, i.e. in the surface of old the Roman Province of Rhétie.
The large internal variety of this linguistic family and the historical and genetic reasons (the frioulan did not know the Substrat rhetic) make that one prefers sometimes the denomination rhéto-frioulan , more rigorous, with the traditional denomination Rhaeto-Romanic .
One distinguishes from is in west:
- the Frioulan (historical area the Friuli)
- the Ladin of the Dolomites
- the Romanche (Swiss canton of the Grison ).
The Rhaeto-Romanic group is the smallest of number of speakers. In addition, its field is very burst, and each one of its portions is insulated, sometimes in deep mountain valleys, from where the existence of many dialects and the strong competition of the close languages (Italian and German). It is only very recently that were undertaken the introduction of common languages equipped with a grammar and an orthography, in order to stop the disappearance of these idioms. Sometimes these efforts encounter oppositions of the groups the least taken into account.
