Revolutionary democratic face of the Ethiopian people
The revolutionary democratic Front of the Ethiopian people (FDRPE) is a political Coalition, currently with the capacity in Ethiopia with Meles Zenawi which is currently the Prime Minister for the country.
The FDRPE was born from the alliance of four political parties, the Front of release of the people of Striped (FLPT), the democratic Organization of the people oromo (ODPO), the democratic National movement will amhara (MNDA) and the Mouvement democratic of the people of the south of Ethiopia (MDPSE). Before reaching the government in 1991, it acted of a group rebels combatant the military junta of the Derg. The FLPT renonça with its claims of independences when it rejoined the coalition with an aim of reversing Derg, that it fought since 1974. With the passing of years, the FDRPE passed from an ideology Marxist-Leninist to a social democrat approach.
The coalition currently adds up 472 of the 527 seats of the Room of the members of Parliament Ethiopian since the elections of the May 15th 2000. The results of these elections were disputed by the opposition, which caused disorders and caused the death of a hundred civilians, therefore two members of Parliament. The FDRPE asserted 327 seats while the opposition affirmed that the two great coalitions of opposition formed a majority.
