Revolution of the cedar
The revolution of the Cedar indicates the various actions citizens which took place with the Lebanon after the assassination of the former Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri the February 14th 2005. At the time of this “revolution”, part of the Lebanese people expressed his rejection of the presence of Syria on the Lebanese ground and its influence in the national policy.
With the elections which followed, the parties supporting the presence of Syria in Lebanon, gathered in the Block of resistance and the development (gathering the Hezbollah, Amal and the Parti social Syrian nationalist) obtained 27,4% of the voices, against 16,4% with the Free patriotic current of Michel Aoun and 56,2% with the coalition of March 14th, gathered around the Running of the Future of Saad Hariri.
