Revolution of 1930 (Brazil)

Revolution of 1930 or Révolution of 30 is the name given, with the Brésil, the movement armed carried out by the States with the Minas Gerais and the Rio Grande C Sul which culminated with the deposition of the president (originating in the State de São Paulo) Washington Luís the October 24th 1930.

In 1929, the elites of the State de São Paulo break alliance with those of the Minas Gerais, symbol of the policy Café COM leite into force since the introduction of the Republic in 1889, and introduce their own candidate to the presidency, the paulist Júlio Prestes. In reaction, the president of the Minas Gerais, Antonio Carlos Ribeiro de Andrada, supports the candidature of opposition of the gaucho Getúlio Vargas. March 1st 1930, the elections with the presidency of the Republic indicate victorious Júlio Prestes, but this one will never take its functions because of the armed movement started the October 3rd 1930 and will be finally exiled.

Getúlio Vargas assumes the direction of the provisional government then the November 3rd 1930, date which marks the end of the " République" old woman; (1889 - 1930) ( República Velha in Portuguese). ----
