Revolution 9

Revolution 9 is a recording Beatles, signed Lennon/McCartney, being reproduced on their album The Beatles , left in 1968. Contrary to the other titles of the group, Revolution 9 is not strictly speaking a Chanson, but a joining of soundtracks one duration of 8:15, carried out by John Lennon and its partner Yoko Ono.

The first version of Revolution 1 , lasted at the beginning more than ten minutes, of which the half consisted of howls and moanings of John and Yoko joined with a series of supposed unmatched noises to represent the crash of a revolution. They then decided to eliminate this chaotic section from Revolution 1 and to re-use it for another piece, which was going to become Revolution 9 .

As soon as this project had a clean existence, other bands of hubbub or crowd, as various recordings of noises coming from the Sonothèque of sound effects of EMI were brought in studio. EMI not laying out of a multitrack equipment improved, it was necessary to use the three studios of Abbey Road by connecting all the machines between them. John ensured the Mixage on line. Such a mixture of sounds makes the sound sources and the voices almost impossible to identify.

Lewisohn mark, which had access to the original soundtracks divides them into: a chorus, Violin S with back, an extract of an orchestral track of has Day in the Life , of entrechoqués glasses, a Mellotron with back, a voice which fredonne, sentences pronounced by John and George Harrison, and a cassette of John and Yoko howling the “ right ” of Revolution . The most memorable band is a powerful voice which repeats “ Number Nine, Number Nine ”. This band seems to be extracted from a question recorded for an examination with the Royal Academy of Music.

Paul McCartney, which was with the the United States when Revolution 9 was carried out, was disappointed of its inclusion in the White Album , more especially as it carried out joinings since 1966, and that John was going now to be perceived like the innovator of the group in this sector.
