Revolt of Tuchins
The revolt of Tuchins or tuchinat is a Languedocien revolt which has occurred between 1381 and 1384 against the tax levies and the presence of the mercenaries. It is also an active defense organization against the garrisons anglo-gascones. She is carried out by armed bands made up of peasants and craftsmen and supported by certain large lords and the urban elite with the province.
She touched also the Auvergne between 1384 and 1389.
Tuchins also took the party of Charles Duras against Angevins in Provence at the time of the war of L ''' Union of Aix . The most dramatic episode was the catch of the town of Arles. In spring of the year 1384, the chief tuchin combined Charles Duras, Etienne Augier more known under the name of Ferragut, settled in the Alpilles, made reign terror until the the Rhone and took the town of Arles on July 24th with internal complicities. After a few hours of disorders, the inhabitants revolted against Tuchins and drove out them city. The following day, a severe repression was carried out against their partisans.
