Revolt of Batetela de Luluabourg
The Révolte of Batetela de Luluabourg was a revolt against the State independent of Congo (EIC) by troops tetelas of the garrison of the Police force of Luluabourg (current Kananga ) in 1895.

The State independent of Congo, founded in 1885, came in 1894 to gain the war against Arabo-Swahilis. Ngongo Lutete, a former lieutenant of Tippo Tip rejoined with the cause of the EIC, however was shown of treachery, was considered and carried out by this one the September 15th 1893.This caused the defection of many Batetela warriors, but many were those which remained incoporés in the rows of the Police force
Course of the revolt
The July 4th 1895, the troops of Luluabourg mainly made up of Batetela revolted, killing their officers and attacker various stations. With the number from only 400, they were however well involved as members of the Police force, and had experience of the recent war. They generally adopted techniques of engagements closer to those of the Police force of the EIC than of those of Arabo-Swahilis, adopting the mobility and avoiding construction of boma (forts).They moved towards the North-East in direction of the Lomami, in direction of the Maniema. The October 18th, they were beaten near Ngandu. Dispersed, they reconstituted small increased bands of new recruits.
One of the independent groups was beaten with Gongo Machoffe by a column of the EIC. The last major battle intervened the November 11th 1896, pacifying the area Lualaba - Kasaï, the revolted reducing one towards the south.
