Revised New General Catalogs
The Revised New General Catalogs ( RNGC ) and its supplement the Revised Index Catalogs ( RIC ) are revisions of the New General Catalogs and of the Index Catalogs S created by John Dreyer. For certain objects, the magnitudes measured by Dreyer were not correct or the description of the object was not precise. They were to thus be revised. The majority of the software of planetarium use the RNGC and the RIC like sources for their database of the deep Ciel.
