Reuel

Reuel or Réuel (Hebrew: רְעוּאֵל , Rəʿuʾel ), but vocalization tibérienne reads Rəġûʾēl (Raguel), " Friend of El " ; VAr. דְּעוּאֵל , Deou' el , or Dəġûʾēl , is a Hebraic name carried by several biblical and/or religious figures, among which:

  • Jéthro, father-in-law of Brace, called Reuel in Exodus 2:18. It was suggested that Reuel was its proper name, " Jéthro" (Héb: Ytro, cf Yeter ) its official title - " excellence".
  • a son of Esaü (Genesis 36:4,10; I Chronic 1:35)
  • Gadite (Numbers 2:14), also called Deou' el (1: 14; 7:42)
  • Benjaminite. (I Chronic 9:3.7, 8)
  • the father-in-law of Tobias (Tobit 7:1,15)
