Ci below are enumerated the results of the votes for the selection of the cities hosts of the Olympic Games of summer. The votes proceeded at sessions of the International Olympic committee.

The place of the competition will be selected on October 2nd 2009 with Copenhagen with the Denmark, at the time of the 121e session of the CIO.

Leipzig (Germany), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Istanbul (Turkey), Havana (Cuba).

Cincinnati, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Tampa and Washington (the United States), eliminated by the American Olympic committee with the profit from New York. Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart (Germany), eliminated by the German Olympic committee with the profit from Leipzig. Seville (Spain), eliminated by the Spanish Olympic committee with the profit from Madrid. Sao Paulo (Brazil), eliminated by the Brazilian Olympic committee with the profit from Rio de Janeiro. Brisbane (Australia), Budapest (Hungary), Dublin (Ireland), Tel Aviv (Israel) and Warsaw (Poland), which withdrew their candidature prematurely.

Yokohama (Japan), eliminated by the Japanese Olympic committee with the profit from Osaka. Edinburgh (the United Kingdom) and Monterrey (Mexico), which withdrew their candidature prematurely.

These Plays were not organized because of the Second world war. However, a vote had taken place before the events to indicate the host city at the time of the 35e session of the CIO, with Berlin (Germany), the July 31st 1936:Designation of Helsinki (Finland), after the desistance from Tokyo (Japan), because of the sino-Nipponese war.
