the resolution 1696 of the safety advice of the United Nations is a adopted resolution the July 31st 2006 with 14 vote against 1 (Qatar). It aims at suspending the uranium enrichment in Iran.

Contents of the resolution

• the Iran must suspend, under checking of IAEA, all its linked activities with enrichment or the reprocessing of uranium.
• the Iran has until the August 31st 2006 to apply the resolution. With beyond the Safety advice of the United Nations will be able to consider sanctions.
