Resistencia
The city Argentine of Resistencia is the capital of the Province of Chaco. It is located at the south-east of the province and the North-East of the department " San Fernando" , it is the capital. The city counted 274.490 inhabitants with the census of 2001 (INDEC), in growth of 19,75% compared to 1991.
Its coordinates are. It is built at an altitude of 50 meters.
Description
It is the most populated city province of Chaco and its administrative, commercial and cultural center. As of its creation in 1878, it had a great importance in the area of the Argentinian North-East, of which it forms the core of communications.
It is called " Ciudad of mow Esculturas" (" City of Sculptures") and " Museo Al surface libre" (" Museum with the air libre") being given very great quantity of works of this type exposed in its streets. Its influence extends to three other localities which form with it the Gran Resistencia . Of these satellite towns most important is the river port of Barranqueras.
The city is crossed by the Río Negro of Chaco.
Large Resistencia
Its population was assembled to 359.142 inhabitants in 2001 (INDEC). Large Resistencia constitutes the 11th urban center of Argentina for the number of inhabitants since in the decade 1980 it exceeded Bahía Blanca. It is also the most populated agglomeration of all Argentinian North-East.
Ten years earlier in 1991, its population was assembled to 292.287 inhabitants, which represented a growth of 23,03% in ten years. This growth is not uniform between the various localities. Thus Fontana (with more or less 25.000 inhabitants) grew of 85%.
Climate
The area of Resistencia has a type of subtropical climate without dry season. Precipitations are roughly of 1.200 mm per annum, during the wet hemicycle. At the time of the half cycles dry, during the time of the years 1870-1920, one observed 900 Misters of annual average. The distance of a few 15 km separating the city from Río Paraná, prevents this last from playing its regulating part as he exerts it, for example for the town of Corrientes, however near to Resistencia. Religion
The principal practiced religions with Resistencia are the Christian woman (mainly catholic although one also meets Mormons there, Témoins of Jéhovah and that it exists many churches there evangelic S) and israëlite.
The Catholic church has a Archevêché whose seat is in the city, and who has as an Saint-owner, Saint Fernando Rey. It comprises three Diocèse S of which the archdiocese of Resistencia and two dioceses Suffragant S.
