Research center policies Raymond Aron
The Research center policies Raymond Aron (CRPRA) () is a center of study of the École of the high studies in social sciences of Paris. It specializes in the study of the policy.
History
François Furet becomes president of EHESS in 1977 and creates an abstract group of political reflection. From this small group, Furet founds in 1982 the institute Raymond Aron, which will be restructured and increased in 1992 to take its current form. The CRPRA is composed thinkers resulting from the liberal tradition (Pierre Manent) as well as " deuxième" anti-totalitarian left (Marcel Gauchet, Pierre Rosanvallon). All these thinkers were given for mission of refonder the political studies in France, dominated for a long time by the Marxist paradigm. The reflection relates thus at its beginnings on the modern political philosophers like to the redécouverte of the French liberal thought of the 18th century and 19th century, forgotten little by little (Nicolas de Condorcet, Benjamin Constant, François Guizot and Alexis de Tocqueville).
Pierre Rosanvallon, former director of the CRPRA and today professor with the Collège de France, comments on the environment of work reigns in the center at its beginnings: “There is, inside the Center Aron, much more differences than in much of places. But we had two things in common: a éthos of the discussion and the rehabilitation of the traditional ones.”
The Center accommodates students on the level master and doctorate.
