Requiem for the atomic times

The Requiem for the atomic times is a part of made up sacred music in 1974 by Jean Daetwyler.

History

It was made up after Daetwyler went in Poland with the group Zachéos of Sierre, or it visited the concentration camp of Auschwitz. This apocalyptic vision did not leave it indifferent and it composed the mass for the dead then, the Requiem for the atomic times .

Instrumentation

The part is written for full orchestra (cords, wood, coppers, percussions), for chorus mixed with 4 votes (sporano, viola, tenor, low) like for two soloists, low and sporano.

Texts

The texts are drawn from the liturgical continuation of the mass for the dead catholic, with additions of psalms: Introit, Gradualis, Tract, Dies Irae, Prophétie of Test (Lacrimosa), Offertoire, Psaume of David, Sanctus, Oratio, Agnus Dei, Communio, Prophétie of Jérémie, Libera me, Prophétie of Ezechiel.

Interpretation

The Requiem for the atomic times was creates and recorded partly on January 6th, 1974 with the church Holy-Catherine de Sierre, under the direction of the type-setter himself. In 2007, year of the centenary of the birth of Jean Daetwyler, work east creates in entirety by the chorus of the colleges of Sion, under the direction of Bernard Héritier as well as orchestra to the academy to Sion, directed by Richard Métrailler (Bernard Héritier directs work). The representations took place in Sion, Salle of Matze on April 24th, 2007 and with the church of Chippis on April 26th, 2007. The representation of Chippis was the subject of a recording. The soloists were Anne-Laure Kénol, soprano and Frederic Moix, low.
