Republican pole

Le Republican Pôle is the name of the organization which gathered the support group with Jean-Pierre Chevènement for the countryside of the presidential election of 2002. January 26th, 2003, at the time of the congress founder of the Republican movement and citizen, the Republican Pole is transformed into confederation gathering the associated Republican movement and Citoyen and organizations. The Republican Pole ceased its activities with the beginning of the year 2004

The PR of 2001 to 2002

The support group, although anchored to left because of the political origin of its founder, gathered " republicans of both rives" where côtoyaient themselves young gaullists like Jerome Baloge, royalists like Bertrand Renouvin of the Nouvelle royalist Action, souverainists like William Abitbol near to Charles Pasqua, Communists like Anicet Pors. The souverainists of right, the royalists and of many young people gaullists however left the Republican Pôle after the presidential election disappointed by the declarations of Jean-Pierre Chevènement and his rallying without reserve with the left for the legislative elections.

The political line of the movement was attached at the same time to the sovereignty of France (Souverainisme), which explains why some regard it as anti-European, and with the values of the French Republic indivisible, laic, democratic and social.

PR since 2002

The name then indicated, in 2003, a transitory confederation, joining together the associated Republican movement and Citoyen and several organizations (radical, gaullists, young people, liberals, souverainists, in particular):

the Union of the radical republicans (U 2R)
the Union gaullist (UGFR)
the Union of the young republicans (UJR)
the Circle of the Union (former members of the UDF)
Lives the Republic (VLR, left souverainist).

Since 2004, the republican Pole does not have any more an existence and the political activity of Jean-Pierre Chevènement is limited to the action of the MRC.

The Union of the Young Republicans constituted the youth movement of the PR. It of it is now independent.
