Republic of Moluques of the South
EP The République of the Moluques of the South ( Republik Maluku Selatan ) is the name of a State not recognized created in the archipelago Indonesia N of the Moluques.
The Republic of Indonesia
August 17th, 1945, Soekarno and Hatta proclaim the independence of the Republic of Indonesia to Jakarta. In December 1945, the Dutch troops unload in Moluques to take over Australian troop in charge of the disarmament of the Japanese troops of occupation (the Japan had capitulated on August 15th). At the beginning of 1946, the Dutchmen stop the independence leader sulawesien Dr. Sam Ratulangie and the kings of Bone and Luwu to Southern Célèbes, in favor of the Republic. They also put the foot at Java and Sumatra.In July, the South East Asia Command of the Allies formally gives the whole of the territory to the Dutchmen, except for Java and Sumatra. " Républicains" and Dutchmen are thus opposite with face in these two islands.
The federal project of the Dutchmen
The Dutchmen organize a conference in the southern of Célèbes where they bring together 39 representatives of usual sovereigns, Christian populations and ethnicities of Borneo and of the east of the archipelago to propose the creation of a Federal state in their old colony.At the end of 1946, " républicains" and Dutchmen meet in Linggarjati close to Cirebon. The Dutchmen recognize sovereignty de facto of the Republic on Java, Madura and Sumatra. The two parts agree to create in 1949 a “République of the United States of Indonesia” ( Republik Indonesia Serikat ).
The State of Eastern Indonesia
December 24th, 1946 with Denpasar with Bali, the Dutchmen announce the creation of a Negara Timur Besar (“great Eastern State”), famous then Negara Indonesia Timur (“State of Eastern Indonesia”), with for president the Balinese sovereign Tjokorda Gde Raka Sukawati. This State consists of Bali, of Small the Îles of the Probe of Célèbes and of the archipelago of the Moluques, but the Western New Guinea does not include.In front of the difficulty of making admit their federal project, the Dutchmen, who maintain 100.000 soldiers in Java, there launch in July 1947 a “action of police force”. At the end of ten days, they must accept a call to the cease-fire of the the United Nations.
They continue nevertheless their federal project and announce the creation of a series of States Fantoche S in various places of the archipelago, 15 in 1948. In 1949, republicans and Dutchmen hold a conference with Yogyakarta.
The Republic of the United States of Indonesia
The “République of the United States of Indonesia” ( Republik Indonesia Serikat or LAUGH in indonésien, Republic off the United States off Indonesia or English RUSI) is created on December 14th. This one is consisted of the Republic of Indonesia itself, consisted of half of the island of Java, Madura and Sumatra, and the 15 States and territories created by the Dutchmen in the remainder of the archipelago.December 27th, the Kingdom of the Netherlands formally transfers sovereignty from old the the Indies Dutchwomen to the Republic of the United States of Indonesia, always except for Western New Guinea.
The Republic of Moluques of the South
In April 1950, of the confrontations oppose soldiers moluquois of the KNIL ( Koninglijke Nederlandsch Indië Leger or “royal army with the Indies Dutchwomen”, Dutch colonial troops) to republican units with Makassar in the south of Célèbes. April 25th the Minister for the Justice of the State of Eastern Indonesia, Dr. Soumokil, Amboinais, proclaims a “République of Moluques of the South” ( Republik Maluku Selatan or RMS) to Ambon. The republican troops unload in July. The rebellion is crushed in November. The government of the RMS is exiled in the Netherlands.August 17th, 1950, the authorities of Jakarta announce the creation of the “unit State of the Republic of Indonesia” ( Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia ) which replaces the RUSI.
