Republic Art schools (subway inhabitant of Lille)

The station République Art schools is a station of the line 1 of the subway inhabitant of Lille.

Situation

The station République Art schools is in the district of Lille-Center and owes its name with the museum of the Art schools of Lille and the Place of the Republic, which it serves. The station has three exits making it possible to leave side Lille-Center or side Wazemmes.

General information

Station built on three underground levels, profiting from several accesses on the surface:
  • level -1: sale and composting of the tickets, not Transpole for the season tickets
  • level -2: intermediate level placed under the forum allowing for choice of the direction of the way
  • level -3: access to line 1, center lanes and opposite quays

Description

Its remarkable architecture reorganized part of the place of the Republic: Indeed, a kind of forum dug in the place, called “the crater”, brings the natural light to the station. The interior of the station pays homage to the Museum of Beautiful arts by offering reproductions of works and an original sculpture of Debeve entitled the Muses . It profits moreover from treated walls way mirror in certain points.

Anecdotes

Following the reopening of the museum of the Art schools, the noun of the station was modified, passing from " République" with " Republic Beautiful-Arts".
