Replicator (Stargate)

The Réplicateurs are a species Extraterrestre mechanical present in the Televised series Stargate SG-1 .

Réplicateurs are with the departure present in the shape of robots resembling mechanical crabs with four legs. These crabs are built only starting from elementary blocks whose dimensions are about the centimetre. They draw their name owing to the fact that they are nourished of all that they find to retort. That made that they are able to reproduce very quickly. Contrary to the organic living beings, they assimilate the properties of the material which they eat without transforming it: a replicator " répliqué" starting from a ferrous alloy can thus be corroded by sea water. In fact, if the unknown process of replication cest, it is probable that they " mangent" very resistant materials thanks to a corrosive liquid that they emit (one of them tries to escape from a cage of glass by projecting a corrosive cloud). Like the insects and the spiders, they can move on the walls or on the ceilings but one is unaware of how: they do not seem to have of device making it possible to cling to the walls (cramps or adhesive substance), following the example the EC what one sees on the legs of the insects, moreover they are much larger and heavier (at least can one suppose it) that insects. They do not attack that if they feel an imminent threat, in which case they attack in group. For example, when the colonel O' neill is téléporté in the Asgard vessel, the réplicateurs appear almost instantaneously in great number but do not attack it: they were only attracted by the energy of the teleportor under operation. Their displacement is accompanied by a very characteristic noise mechanical, which makes them easy to locate.

Réplicateurs were created by a named Androïde Reese so that they are used to him as toys. But it quickly lost control of it. Their force comes from their capacity out it common to learn from the leading-edge technologies, and thus to resist the Arme S of the species which seek to destroy them, as it is in particular the case of the Asgard. The evolved/moved weapons with energy do not have any effect on Réplicateurs, whereas the primitive projectile weapons can break the connections between the various basic blocks which constitute them. On the other hand, cetains Réplicateurs, those containing material present in the structure of the Asgard vessels, can be rebuilt all alone once destroyed by projectile weapons (however it seems that a second shooting destroys them definitively).

When SG-1 discovered the androïde Reese, the team brought back it on Ground and tried to study it by reactivating it, but its toys failed to invade the Earth. The only solution was to damage it at the point to decontaminate it. SGC then gave it to the Asgard. Those, while trying to imprison Réplicateurs of all them Galaxy in a temporal bubble on one their planets, were exceeded by the events. Thanks to their phenomenal capacity to absorb other technologies, Réplicateurs assimilated the technology of their mother, Reese, and they created new using Réplicateur of the components of tiny size and having a human appearance. They thus could modify the modifier of time to accelerate it instead of slowing down it. Composed of nano-blocks much smaller and evolved/moved that those of normal Réplicateurs , they have capacities of regeneration out of the commun run and they can establish an interface between their spirit and that of a prisoner while plunging their hand in the head of this last. The projectile weapons do not have any effect on this new species of Réplicateurs humanoïdes (the balls pass through their body without damaging it). SG-1 then succeeded in again reversing the technology of dilation of the time of the Asgard and Réplicateurs was this time indeed trapped during several months.

Réplicateurs were maintained prisoners in a “temporal bubble”, bubble whose androïde Numéro 5 succeeded in being released whereas his were them about to be absorbed by a Black hole created by Asgard to get rid some definitively. Jack O' Neill, thanks to knowledge of the Old , could work out a weapon called Disrupteur to fight them, arms which makes from now on integral part of the arsenal Asgard. An small group of Réplicateurs, under the command of the androïde Number 5 and from RépliCarter (Réplicateur humanoïde which has the appearance and the memory of Samantha Carter and which was conceived by Numéro 5) disappeared during one moment, time to retort itself in another galaxy. Then they decided to go in the Milky Way where RépliCarter took the command by destroying Numéro 5 and by immunizing ray interrupter thanks to the naivety of the Land ones. Later, Réplicateurs launched a great offensive in the Milky Way by attacking as well the Goa' uld as the Land ones. But they were finally completely overcome thanks to a weapon of Old being on Dakara and thanks to the Computer virus (invented by Goa' uld Nerus under the orders of Baal) making it possible to open all the doors of stars of the galaxy at the same time.
