Replay action
The Action Replay is an apparatus created by Datel making it possible to enter of the codes of cheating some video games. There is more than one dozen of different models. Some are done for only one play like the Action Replay Ultimate Cheats: Large Theft Car: San Andreas or the Action Replay Ultimate Cheats: Metal GEAR Solid 3: Snake Eater . However, following its use, the plays can be victims of bug mainly with regard to the files safeguards. In 2005, the Replay Action is available on the consoles GameCube, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Nintendo DS and the PlayStation Portable (PSP).
History
The Replay Action made its beginnings on the Commodore 64, one of the first personal computers. With its red cartridge of registered trademark, the Replay Action was one of the most popular cartridges turbos . Indeed, because these cartridges authorized a computing speed and of faster execution, allowing, for example, to increase up to 10 times the speed with which the hard drive treated the data. Another important function of this cartridge was its capacity of " geler" the program in progress, to safeguard the contents of the memory on a cassette or a diskette before the file is again charged. As an indication, with Commodore 64, the cartridge did not need to be installed. Once charged, the program took again its normal course at the exact point where it had been stopped. Thus, only one loading of the play was necessary in order to record it and to copy it. The cartridge also included other possibilities such as the management of the files of diskette and the diskette copy.
For this time, many versions have been produced for various systems, but have all, without exception, the same characteristic that the version of Commodore 64, that is to say the capacity to still examine the sites of memory, and more important, to modify them.
The only exception to this rule are the Replay Action of the Xbox and the PlayStation Portable since they are devices of transfer of file of safeguard.

Criticisms
Datel, the creator of the Replay Action, received several critics coming from the world videoludic at the place of its products. One of the most current complaints is supposedly the " programmed Obsolescence " where the codes for a play which has just been put on sale requires the most recent version of the software of cheating. Datel is also known for its weak support with regard to the codes; many are the players who must wait weeks before Datel publishes codes for a play in particular and very often, they are incomplete. For example, in the play Gran Turismo 4, Datel published the codes more than one month after the exit of the play. Even with such a delay, the codes are useful, for the majority, only to modify the car in the Arcade mode. The codes more requires some such as those reducing the number of solo circuits (with an aim of decreasing the number of hours necessary in order to supplement a race of endurance) were not revealed only after many requests and mainly in order to reduce the anger of the users. Datel also offered a cédérom containing codes of cheating specifically for Gran Turismo 4, but the players see there more one lucrative means. A true criticism is the support after sale relatively lamentable, which was still not improved.
