Renzo De Felice

Renzo De Felice (Rieti, the April 8th 1929 - May 25th 1996) was a Italian Historien , specialist in the Fascisme.

Biography

He studies the Histoire with the university of Naples, where he is the pupil of Federico Chabod and Delio Cantimori; De Felice adheres to the Italian Communist party with the beginning of the year 1950, then sign in 1956 the Manifeste of the 101 which expresses the distance that take most of the members of the party with respect to the Soviet Union after the violent repression of the Insurrection of Budapest; as much of the signatories, it ends up leaving the Communist party.

In 1972, it leaves to Rome to teach with the university Sapienza, where it teaches initially the Histoire Parti S Politique S, then the Political science, before obtaining in 1986 the pulpit of modern history.

Work

De Felice is famous for its bulky Biographie of Mussolini, always unfinished with its death. It also founded the review Storia Contemporanea . It is mainly interested in the Fascisme. De Felice distinguishes the " Fascism as a mouvement" and the " Fascism as a Mode ".

For him, Fascism, in particular as a movement, is a revolutionary Idéologie corresponding to waitings of the Middle-class, which enracine in the philosophy of the Lights. Fascism does not benefit from the fear of the middle-classes, but rather of an attempt at their share to monopolize the to be able. For Felice, Fascism remains a valid political ideology, which cannot nor should not be diabolized or reduced according to the terms of a Rhétorique only he judges " Marxist ".
