Renfrew (in Scottish Gaelic Rinn Friù ) is a borough of Scotland, located at the west of Glasgow, on the Scottish Western coast.

It was the Chef-lieu county of the Renfrewshire until 1975. From 1975 to 1996, it belonged to the district of Renfrew, area of the Strathclyde. It is now located in the Council Area of Renfrewshire.

Renfrew was located formerly on the Clyde, but this one having changed of bed, it is a channel which joint Clyde which bathes the city.

The county of Renfrew (Renfrewshire) was formerly the prerogative of the family Stuart, which arrived later at the throne of Scotland. The heir apparent with the throne to the Kingdom to Scotland, the duke of Rothesay, carries still today the title of baron de Renfrew.
