Renens

Renens (VD) is a common Suisse of the Canton of Vaud, located in the District of Lausanne.

History

The name of Rugnens appears for the first time in year 896, in turn Runens, Rugnens, Regnens then finally Renens. The City took its take-off much later; at the beginning of the 20th century. Since the elections of March 12th, 2006, the composition of the Municipality is the following one: two members of the popular working Left (POP), two socialist, two radical and a ecologist. Syndicates is Marianne Huguenin, of the popular working Party.

The Parliament is him composed of 23 members of the Gathering of the center and the right-hand side of Renens (alliance of the Radical party and the Liberal party), 21 Socialists, 20 members of POP, 11 ecologists and 5 members of the local group Arc-en-Ciel (center).

Geography

Renens is located at the west of Lausanne. It is crossed by two rivers: the Brook of Broye and Mèbre. These two rivers are symbolized on the flag of the City.

A multicultural city

Renens is a multicultural city, with step less than 53% inhabitants of foreign nationality. This plurality makes the force of Renens. It is enough to spend Saturday morning on the Place of the Market to realize it. The African scents mix with Spanish paella and the Italian pizze.
