Rene Richard Louis Castel (born on October 6th 1758 with Transfers - died on June 15th 1832) was a French poet and naturalist.

After studies with the Louis-the-Large College and an election like prosecutor-syndic, it was appointed of the Calvados to the legislative Assemblée, where it sat among the constitutional moderate ones, and defended monarchy and the King.

Appointed professor de Belles-lettres with Louis-The-Large, it was delivered then to the letters: it published in 1797 the Plants , didactic poem and writes an opera, the Prince de Catane (1813).
