It draws up there French line a typology in three families inherited the conflicts of the 19th century, the line orleanist or liberal, line Bonapartist or authoritative, and line legitimist or reactionary, and postulates their relevance until our days. The step illustrates the profit that the Social sciences can draw from a reciprocal fecundation from the political Histoire and Political science, as well as the importance of the comprehension of the great movements and remanent mentalities to include/understand the policy event-driven , which Helene Carrère d' Encausse will summarize thus when it accommodates Rémond with the Academy one half-century later: To seize the significance of the present, shouldn't it be restored in one long life when find to be better explained the facts and the behaviors? Shouldn't one call some with the traditions of thought to evaluate the most recent trends of opinion, their progress, their declines, their fluctuations?
In 1992, Jean-François Sirinelli, former student of Rémond and Jean Touchard, will direct large a Histoire of the right-hand sides to France in three volumes which falls under the line of the work of Rémond, and shows the prospects for French a historical line study opened with the concepts of Political culture and sensitivity.
Starting from the Years 1960, Rémond is one of the great figures of the revival of the political Histoire, target of the criticism of the Annales, with at the same time the historians nanterrois and those of the institute of political studies of Paris, where he also teaches.
