Rene Pellat

Rene Pellat was born the 24 February 1936 and died accidentally the 4 August 2003. Graduate of the X - Bridges and Chaussées, it obtains in 1967 a doctorate in Physical sciences at the University of Paris.

Rene Pellat began his scientific career as engineer with the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique, then continued it as research director with CNRS. He was successively President of the Committee of the scientific programs of CNES, Chairman of the board of CNRS, President of the CNES, before becoming Haut-Commissaire with Atomic energy in 1998 and Délégué to nuclear Safety in 2001. He in particular supported the French proposal of the site of Cadarache for the realization of the international project of engine ITER.
