Rene Maran
Rene Maran (Fort-de-France, Martinique, November 8th 1887 - May 9th 1960) is a writer French of Guianese origin. Rene Maran was born the November 8th 1887 on the boat which brought his/her parents of Guianese origin to Fort-de-France. He there will remain until the seven years age and will leave to the Gabon where his/her father, Héménéglide Maran, excercait a colonial administrative station. Its work describes in particular excesses of colonialism while being French of heart. It will be the first black to obtain the Goncourt price in 1921 with its novel Batouala .
