Rene Lorin

The Engineer French Rene Lorin , former student of the central School of arts and manufactures, was the first to consider the propulsion of a Aéronef by means of a Reaction engine : in 1908 (or 1913 following certain sources), it publishes an article describing the principle of a Statoréacteur in the review Aérophile .

This invention arrived however too early, because no plane was then able to reach the speed necessary to operation of the statoreator. Lorin could not thus lead its idea to a concrete stage and 1949 will have to be waited until to see flying the first plane been driven by such an engine, thanks to work of Rene Leduc.
